Try Google Sketchup, it’s very easy, free, fast and light on resources.
After watching 2 short video tutorials i build our house in a few hours ( i’m no expert).
Also there is a 3d warehouse where you can download all kind of pre build models like buildings, furniture, trees, textures and much more.
There are also free plugins to im- export your model to professional renderers for a more photorealistic effect.
Even without the plugins the shade and translucent effect gives it a very realistic feeling.
