What do architects and interior designers do, exactly?

Arty asked:

Exterior and is designed to calculate costs and make sure that the building works with security measures, but it does (can) they designed the interior too, or is that a designer 'interior; ¿s work? Can designing the minutiae of stairs and thresholds and color and wall tiling the floor? If that 's a designer' interior; ¿s work, then designed the house himself or accessories such as lamps or desks or cabinets? Is there a job that combines interior and exterior design?

Generally architects can design the details of doorways, stairs, floor tiling, etc, as stated. On the other hand, the interior designers are more into the furniture, cabinets, furnishings, lighting and colour blending of the building. Interior designers do not design the house as such.
